DPP Unveils Update For Programme Delivery Specs

Logo DPPThe Digital Production Partnership (DPP) has announced the publication of the latest version of its Technical Specification for the Delivery of TV Programmes to all major UK broadcasters.

Version 5.0 of the delivery specification represents a major update, targeting new deliverables with the addition of:

  • Ultra High Definition (UHD)
  • High Dynamic Range (HDR)
  • advice on cameras for drones
  • conversion between new video formats

There are now two versions of the delivery document: one for programmes delivered by file and a second for live programmes.  In addition, there is also a series of supplements providing additional advice on Metadata, HDR, Surround Sound, 3D and Super16.

The new release no longer supports videotape delivery. This reflects the decision taken by the DPP’s UK broadcaster Members to no longer accept videotape for new programme deliveries from 1st October 2017.

“The final move away from tape and the shift to higher resolution deliveries marks an exciting new chapter for UK broadcasting.” said Mark Harrison, Managing Director, DPP. “As always, we’ll be working with DPP Members to help make the transition as smooth as possible.”
